How to heal from cough and colds

Cough is a reflex that your body uses as a defense against any foreign body or microorganism that is detected in the lower respiratory tract. The lower respiratory tract includes the pharynx down to the lungs.
In example, when our body detects a bacteria down our throat, our villi (cells in our throat) will release mucus to surround and unarm the bacteria then the cilia (cells in the throat) will then kick  upwards to help the mucus out to the throat. Once it reaches near the pharynx, the person will now feel the urge to cough out and spit the mucus or secretion.

What do we need to assist our respiratory system in coughing out the mucus?
Fluids preferably lukewarm water. Warm water will make the secretion thin to be easily coughed out. It preferably taken in warm to help the throat muscles relax.
You may add lemon, ginger or calamansi and/honey. Just make sure to drink more than 8-ounce glass water a day.

What should we avoid?
Avoid sweets. Sweets may irritate your throat.

Avoid taking medicines without a doctor's prescription. Taking herbal medicines or synthetic drugs may worsen your condition as it may damage your kidneys. Herbal medicines is  functionally the same with synthetic drugs. Once it is abused, the kidneys would be working hard for the overload. This will eventually damage the nephrons (kidneys) and destroy your kidneys.
